Chinese Food Festival 2008

Chinese Food Fest at UN Delegates’ Dining Room

By Amy Langfeld  Published October 24, 2008  Updated on October 28, 2008

The United Nations Delegates’ Dining Room is still accepting reservations for the second week of its Chinese Food Festival – but not for long.

The dining room, which overlooks the East River , is open to the public for weekday lunches only. And indeed it is used by the delegates as well.

During food festivals, the sponsoring country usually flies in its own chefs who bring in special ingredients. The all-you-can-eat buffet is priced just like the regular all-you-can-eat buffet: $26 per person, plus the cost of beverage and tip.

The current festival runs through October 31, but reservations are now limited to the 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. seatings.

Reservations are required, and the dress code dictates jackets for men; jeans and tennis shoes are prohibited. You’ll need to clear regular U.N. security, and then show identification to get a special pass to reach the dining room.
